The album at a glance
Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan came out on 28 August 2026: Nadin Amizah's third album, eleven tracks made with ten producers, among them Lafa Pratomo, Baskara Putra, Enrico Octaviano, Otta Tarega and Feby Putri. The opener and lead single, "Moonlight", made with Dissa Kamajaya, arrived on 7 August.
Why Laika
The album is built around Laika, the dog the Soviet Union sent into orbit in 1957. Nadin told Kumparan: "Laika's story inspired me. Truly. I imagined Laika born into the world longing for love, cared for, receiving a love she thought would last forever, but in the end Laika was only a tool to satisfy human arrogance."
Longing that turns into anger
Through Laika, the album speaks for children longing for a father who is absent. "In my eyes, Laika is someone who longs for something that is never enough, wants a love that never comes, and a plea that eventually turns into anger," she told Pophariini.
Why ten producers
The long producer list was a plan, not a committee. "Even from the songwriting stage, I already had a picture of how it should sound," she told Kumparan, so she matched each song to the producer who could get it there.
Writing from herself
As on her earlier records, the starting point is personal: "My work always comes from processing myself, especially in how I see things."
"Moonlight", a song from high school
The English-language opener is older than her career. She wrote it in high school and played it live in the Sorai and Rumpang era without ever recording it. "Again, because this is an old song. Written in high school, even before 'Nadin Amizah' as people know her now existed," she told CNN Indonesia. She chose it to open the album because "sonically, 'Moonlight' fits so well to introduce Laika's world. Before getting to know her, I think we need to know her universe first."
